Halloween Leftovers: A Marathon

For me October is one long horror movie marathon ending in a big blow out on the 31st. My viewing usually consists old favorites and some new films. No matter how much I try I'm never able to get to everything I want to. This November 1st I looked at the pile of left over movies and had an idea. A marathon of Halloween leftovers. To make it easier on myself when it came to picking the films I came up with some guidelines. The films would be ones I'd never seen and had to be from within the last five to six years. With two days off during the week I planned to start the marathon after work. And then continue over the next two days. So, how'd it turn out? Read on for the lowdown.

247°F (2011)

Based on a true story? Really more of a thriller then a horror film. But any film with a sweaty underwear clad Scout Taylor-Compton is okay in my book. For the ladies there's two equally sweaty underwear clad beefcakes about. Turns out the true part of the story featured 100% less dead people.

Alyce Kills (2011)

Off the rails on a crazy train. That's this film in a nutshell. Even the damn bartender is insane. All the characters are great though. Some are vile but still interesting. Never tell your friend they have a wet vagina when your drunk on a roof. It's Kurtains for ya!

V/H/S: Viral (2014)

I really loved the first two V/H/S films. This one was M/E/H to the extreme. Other then the story concerning a magician and his cursed robe everything falls flat on it's analog face. Way too much CGI gore effects in this one.

The Poltergeist of Borley Forest (2013)

Needs less Borley Forest and more Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan. That's all I could think of watching this. I wish Broly would show up and destroy the damn forest.

Lost After Dark (2014)

Another retro slasher deal. They got the fashions right. The '80's style music is a nice touch as well. Robert Patrick was the standout here. He should have been the hero. Nice touch with the supposed Final Girl. The metal chick was cool. Wish there was more of her. Too bad the kills are boring. The killer is no great shakes himself. He looks like a grumpy Alan Moore.

Caesar and Otto's Paranormal Halloween (2015)

Had no idea there was a whole series of films about Caesar and half brother Otto. I was surprised just how funny this was. The lovely Tiffany Shepis plays a neighbor of the brothers. Damn. If only she was my neighbor. The Halloween homage with a fake Dr. Phill was a highlight.

The Coven (2015)

This was a horror film? Seriously? Was this made for The Family Channel? Damn the accents are so think I couldn't tell what any of the girls were saying.

Run, Hide, Die (2012)

No running. Very little hiding. Couldn't wait for the dying. A whole lot of sleeping.

Inner Demons (2014)

Oh no. Found Footage film. Wait it's not that bad. Goth chick! That's at least a couple extra points in my book. Wow, actually cared about the main characters. Damn bleak ending.

We Are Still Here (2015)

The marathon ended on a high note. House of The Devil mixed with House by the Cemetery. With a little The Fog thrown in. Loved the retro setting of this one. To prove how '70's this one there's even a J&B sighting. Burnt pissed off ghosts are not to be messed with. Lisa Marie still has it going on. You where a fool to dump her Tim Burton.

This was the most fun I've had with a movie marathon in some time. Alyce Kills, Inner Demons and We Are Still Here where all winners. Run, Hide, Die and The Coven where some Hostel like torture. Actually can't wait try this again sometime.
