The weekend and the werewolf

All in all not a bad second Werewolf movie marathon. Over the weekend, starting Friday night I was able to blast through ten films featuring lycanthropy. Sometime in the near future I hope to have a post about the whole weekend.

Be sure to check out the one that inspired both of mine.

The films-
Friday
Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory (1961)
Moon of the Wolf (1972)
My Mom's a Werewolf (1989)
Saturday
The Beast of Bray Road (2005)
Cursed (2005)
The Feeding (2006)
Sunday
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
Dr Jekyll and the Wolfman (1972)
The Curse of the Werewolf (1961)
Silver Bullet (1985)

Sunday Smackdown

Now with a nifty banner. Everything needs a banner. Banners are cool. Anyway it looks like The Baseball Furies got in a little bit of batting practice with The Droogs. In other words it was real horrorshow.

This week it's the battle of two Serial killers who frankly wore a couple of the most lackluster getups ever.

In this corner it's the killer from Urban Legends. Our campus stalking maniac likes to bring the ax down on a then still hot Tara Reid while sporting a sweet parka.

The opponent? Why it's The Gorton's Fisherman wearing his Friday night S&M gear. Oh, no sorry it's Ben Willis. I bet that thing smells real great after all that killing.

Well there it is. Two titans of post-Scream horror. It's a battle of the not too sharp dressed killers.

Wolfman's got nards!

It's really been that long since my first werewolf marathon. Wow 2009? Well time to fix that it's been too long since it got hairy around here. Wait that doesn't sound too good now does it? Screw it here's Ozzy because it's time my friends to

I'm going to kick it off in a couple of minutes with Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory, from there it's anybody's ballgame. I've got a whole stack of films in the Lycan variety for the long weekend.

My offical drink for this undertaking will be Mountain Dew Pitch Black! And the snack? Why it's taco flavored Doritos. Not exactly werewolf inspired but, I'm not going to sit here and chew on someone's leg so it'll have to do.

Femme Fatale Friday: Nicola Bryant

Sunday Smackdown

Dr. Who stands triumphant. It must be do to The Doctor's skill in Venusian aikido that he truly trounced 007. I was suprised just how one sided it was. Not one vote for Commander Bond.

Well on to this week's match up.

It's time for a bit of gang warfare. Two Iconic gangs battling it out for control of their turf.

Vs.

First we have The Droogs from A Clockwork Orange. They love to spend a night out on the town drinking it up at the Korova Milkbar, before engaging  in an a little of the old ultra-violence.

Their opposition, The Baseball Furies. Bane of The Warriors, from the film of the same name. These baseball loving, make-up wearing freaks like to throw-down using baseball bats and bad attitudes.

There you are another match up for another week. Enjoy!

This week's haul

Most everything I got was from online sellers because frankly the local Wal-Mart never has anything very interesting. The FYE though can usually be counted on for a few finds.

Dead and Buried is one of those films I remember seeing on HBO back in the '80's. The attack scenes, the needle in the eye one especially are quite viscous. Lord only knows how I got away with watching this one.

I've really been on a Hammer Films kick as of late. The Hammer Icons series have been spectacular so far. Cash on Demand and These are The Dammed are the two in this set I really want to see badly.

I've finally gotten to drastically updating my old taped off PBS Dr. Who VHS tapes to the wonderful DVDS put out by the BBC. Between that and watching the new season on BBC America you might say I've become addicted. On a side note...holy crap are those VHS tapes I have old. Laser tapes anyone?

I already own the other release of Thriller: A Cruel Picture on DVD. But besides just being a total collecting nerd, I just wanted to be able to watch it without all those porn inserts.

I can't believe I didn't already own The Dead Next Door and Return of the Living Dead part II. Well I've corrected that. Thank you FYE.

Satan's Little Helper has gotten some decent reviews online and it was cheap (4.99) so giddy up!

Speaking of reviews. This great review at Beardy Freak has had me trying to track down a copy of Killer's Moon for a few years. Finally I found a copy and one that wasn't way overpriced. Crazy Clockwork Orange style killers vs. a bus full of school girls...what's not to love about that?

Dark Horse's first volume of Marvel's Star Wars comics was fantastic. Flipping through the 2nd volume it appears to be just as great. The interior artwork by Carmine Infantino is wonderful beyond words. Pure groovy space opera fun.

Marvel's Essentials series are done on the cheap in Black and White. I for one love the lack of color. It's great seeing the line work by the artists in all it's glory. The first half of the stories in this volume are by Marie Severin and the second half is by Herb Trimpe. There's some great match ups with the Silver Surfer, the Rhino, Sub-Mariner, the Mandarin, Ka-Zar, the Sand-Man, and the return of the Leader.

Rest in Peace, Macho Man

This is truly terrible news. Farewell Mister Savage. When I was growing up your were just as big as Hulk Hogan to me.
